On a chilly winter day, I decided to walk through the central environs of the Williamsburg neighborhood in North Brooklyn. The angle of the winter sun framed the day with dramatic light and shadows. This section of Williamburg is primarily residential - although, as you will see, the major avenues are a lively hub of commerce.

www.CityNeighborhoods.NYC has hit a milestone: I have set foot (and photographed) all 90+ neighborhoods in Queens, New York City. Given the sheer size and diversity of this borough, it is time to recognize this level of accomplishment. To commemorate this milestone, I’ve released a new video tour, featuring, in alphabetical order, every single neighborhood in Queens.
The walkway across the Manhattan Bridge offers a beautiful vista: The Brooklyn Bridge spanning the East River between Brooklyn and the Financial District of Lower Manhattan.
The Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge draw you across the East River to the heart of Lower Manhattan’s Financial District, where One World Trade Center dominates the skyline.
There are few more romantic locations in New York City than sunset in Central Park - especially on the Great Lawn with the silhouette of the Beresford as a backdrop.
Offering sweeping vistas of Midtown Manhattan and the Upper East Side, Roosevelt Island is a hidden gem in New York City. Here, the colors of the Empire State Building contrast with the silhouettes of the buildings around the United Nations in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of Manhattan.
Battery Park City is a modern, glittering neighborhood just west of the World Trade Center. It’s anchored by Brookfield Place (formerly the World Financial Center), whose centerpiece is the Winter Garden Atrium. Taken from North Cove, this long-exposure photo shows just how far the area has come over the past fifteen years.
New York City is often a fascinating study in juxtapositions: wealthy and working class, glitz and decadence; bright lights and city grime; skyscrapers and subways …
Here at West 47th Street and 7th Avenue, we see a sets of pairs: waiting ambivalently above ground with the bright lights; joyfully descending below into the glow of the subway …
Located in the far northwestern corner of Midtown (and southwest corner of Central Park), at the intersection of Broadway, 8th Avenue and West 58th & 59th Streets is Columbus Circle. Here the Big Dipper, the Time Warner Towers, and the spire of Central Park Place look down on the lights and traffic of this iconic location.
New York City, with its glittering lights and towering skyscrapers has long held a romantic charm. Here, on the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, overlooking the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, with the spire of the newly erected One World Trade Center as the backdrop, a couple shares a memory.
